Helping Our Young People

Specific Educational Projects

Calor has also provided direct and long term assistance to specific educational projects as follows.

Kineton High School

Calor’s head office has established a close relationship with this Warwickshire rural secondary school to provide marketing and ICT support. Case studies in these subjects are included in the school’s teaching programmes and Calor personnel have visited classes to outline business issues and challenges from a practical perspective.

Gaelic College, Isle Of Skye

Calor has established a fund to create and maintain a theatre for students to stage theatrical productions in Gaelic. The company has pledged its continued active involvement in this project. In addition, safety jackets have been donated to school children on the Isle of Skye in support of the local road safety education campaign.

Canvey Island School

The Calor Computer Centre, based in the school, has been designed and funded by Calor to support students in gaining IT skills.

Calor Farms For City Kids Appeal

In 2000, all Calor’s head office staff took part in an event that raised £1,000 to send local urban children to a farm for a week, encouraging awareness of rural and environmental issues.

The Fairyland Trust

Calor has a long standing working relationship with The Fairyland Trust, encouraging environmental awareness among childrenThis is a registered charity with whom Calor has established a close working relationship. Established in 2001, the charity encourages children to participate in events and projects based on the magic of fairies in a woodland setting and by doing so, appreciate the beauty of our environment and preserve and restore our wildlife habitats. Calor’s support has provided the Trust with a Mongolian Yurt that is used as a travelling ‘Fairy Café’ as well as publication of its annual report and help at numerous Fairy Fairs.

Visit www.fairylandtrust.org for further information.

In all, Calor and the SHV Group can demonstrate an established commitment to education, training and personal development, both in support of our own staff and the wider community.
