Butane Cylinders - 7Kg, 12Kg & 15Kg

Cylinder connection can be a real area of confusion for customers, which is why we have compiled a guide to help you.

This section of the guide shows you step-by-step how to properly connect 7Kg, 12Kg & 15Kg butane cylinders to your appliance, with details of how to remove and replace regulators.

Follow the steps below, taking special note of the safety warnings.

These cylinders have a 21mm valve and must only be used with 21mm regulators.

1. Turn the orange cap so that the arrow is pointing to the gap in the shroud.

2. Remove the orange safety cap by pulling the lanyard out, then up. Do not use tools. Leave the cap hanging.

3. Check that the black sealing washer is fitted inside the cylinder valve.

4. Ensure the regulator switch is in the disconnect position (3 o’clock position).

5. Fit the 21mm regulator as per manufacturer’s instructions.

6. When gas is required, turn the switch anticlockwise to the on position.

IMPORTANT

If the regulator on/off switch gets stuck when turning the supply on, it means that the regulator has been connected incorrectly. In this event the regulator must be disconnected and the correct steps to reconnect be repeated from the beginning.

1. Turn the regulator switch clockwise to the off position.

2. If the flame does not go out – leave appliance alight and contact the Calor Gas Emergency Service number on 08457 444 999.

3. For the Comap 1590 or AD regulators press the push button on the lower part and lift the regulator from the valve.

   For the SRG 541 regulator lift up the lever at the base of the regulator and lift the regulator from the valve.

   For the Reca Compact Quick-On regulator, press horizontally on the regulator on/off switch and pull upwards at the same time.

4. Replace the orange safety cap onto the empty cylinder valve.
