Space Stretching Q&A

Boston Living Flame Effect Portable HeaterQ - I have just started working from home and have created an office in my converted garage; there are no radiators in there and I don’t really want to incur the expense of a plumber. Is there anything you can suggest?

A - Perhaps you could invest in a portable heater from Calor. The company’s retro styled De’Longhi Quattro Plus may be just the answer, providing a highly efficient solution for many of today’s heating problems – whether taking the chill off an airy dining room, heating a conservatory in the cooler months or providing instant spot heating for those working from home. The Quattro Plus is priced at £89.95 (Calor’s SRP) and is a cost-effective way of providing instant variable heat to keep you feeling warm.

Q - My husband and I have recently added a lovely conservatory to our home which we use all the time. We’ve considered extending the central heating system into it but don’t want to go to the expense. Whilst it has been warm during the summer months, I am concerned that the space will be chilly in the winter. Is there an alternative?

A - For those cold winter evenings, and days for that matter, you could buy a Calor portable heater. A portable heater is particularly valuable in rooms which are used at varying times during the day and week, like a hobby room, as they produce instant on-the-spot heat wherever and whenever it is needed. You can order one online at www.calorheatershop.co.uk or call Calor Gas Direct on 0800 662 663.

Q - I want to create a focal point in my home and love the traditional stove fires. I have the perfect position in mind but am not able to install an outside flue. Are there any alternatives?

A - Have you considered a Calor portable heater? With so many shapes and sizes on offer today there is bound to be one that will meet your criteria. In particular Calor’s new Provence (Calor’s SRP £399) and Boston (Calor’s SRP £299) both sound suitable. They differ in size and shape but are both essentially cast iron stove-style heaters. And as they are fuelled by Calor Gas cylinders (concealed in the base) there is no need for a flue. Perfect!

Q - I am interested in buying a portable heater for my daughter while she’s at university. How much do portable heaters cost and where can I get them from?

A - There is a wide selection of portable heaters available and Calor has an extensive range. From the retro De’Longhi Quattro Plus priced at £89.95 (Calor’s SRP) and functional De’Longhi SC85 Calor Catalytic at £69.95 (Calor’s SRP), there is a price and style to suit a variety of homes and lifestyles. And because they are a pay-as-you-go form of heating, they are perfect for students on a budget. Order online from www.calorheatershop.co.uk or call freephone 0800 662 663.

Q - How much will a Calor Gas cylinder cost me?

A – Depending on the size of the portable heaters they are powered by either a 7kg or 15kg (cylinder size is dependent on model size) of butane Calor Gas, which is neatly concealed inside the heater. There is a one off payment of between £19.99* and £24.99*, which covers the initial cost of the cylinder with gas refills costing £12.75* or £17.99* - including VAT. Cylinders can be purchased on a pay-as-you-go basis by calling 0800 662 663 or online at www.calorheatershop.co.uk. For extra convenience, gas can also be delivered direct to your home.

* Dependent on the cylinder size
