Families
right across the UK are being called upon by Calor to
hold a charity barbecue this summer to raise funds for
children’s charity, ChildLine.
From 1st May 2005, Calor is encouraging families, their
friends and neighbours to fire up their barbecues as
part of its ‘Gift of the Gas’ campaign –
a year-long initiative which aims to fund extra phone
lines and trained counsellors for ChildLine, the UK’s
free, 24-hour helpline for children and young people
in danger or distress.
To help make it as easy as possible for everyone in
the family to get involved and raise as much money as
possible, Calor is providing mouth-watering barbecue
recipes, fun fundraising tips, garden game ideas and
a downloadable barbecue invitation on its website –
www.caloralfresco.co.uk.
Esther Rantzen, ChildLine’s chair and founder,
said: “Every day calls from around 2,300 children
are answered by ChildLine, but the enormous demand for
our service means that hundreds more who may be desperate
for help are unable to get through.
“Calor
is helping to raise funds for ChildLine to ensure that
more children reach the vital support, advice and protection
our helpline counsellors provide. Please give your support
to the ‘Gift of the Gas’ campaign by holding
a charity barbecue this summer and help ChildLine to
change more children’s lives.”
