Q – My
husband and I enjoy relaxing in our conservatory during
the summer months, but find it too cold in the winter.
We have considered extending the central heating, however
we feel this will be too costly, is there an alternative?
A – We
all love spending time in the conservatory in the summer
months, however once the summer sun has faded, the
conservatory can become pretty chilly and you’re
quite right, installing central heating can be costly. However
there is no reason why you can’t use your conservatory
all year round if you use a Calor portable heater, as they
are a cost-effective way of providing mobile warmth when
and where you need it. Calor has a wide range of portable
heaters available, all fuelled by Calor Gas, and includes
the company’s new stove-styled Provence* heater, priced
at £399 (Calor’s SRP). For more information,
log onto www.calorheatershop.co.uk or visit your local
Calor outlet. Details of your local Calor outlet can be
found by calling 0800 662 663.
Q – I am looking to work from home and want
to create a home office in my shed. However I don’t
know how to go about installing a heating system and
don’t want to incur large bills. What are my options?
A – Your shed can be a wonderful
ready-made extension to be used for anything from a yoga
room to a home office. Rather than looking at installing
a heating system in the shed, which can be complicated
and expensive, a simple, efficient and cost-effective heating
solution is a portable heater from Calor. There's no installation;
just unpack, connect to a Calor Gas bottle and turn
on. Models such as the De’Longhi Blue Flame, priced
at £74.95
(Calor’s SRP), are stylish yet practical, and
offer flexible heating solutions for spot, solus or
supplementary heating. The heat is instant and localised;
if you want a warm shed you have a warm shed! Safety
conscious too, the Blue Flame features a double safety
cut-off system which stops the flow of gas to the heater
if the flame fails to light or if the percentage of
carbon dioxide in the air exceeds 1.5 per cent. For

Q – We have recently had a conservatory
built and the décor scheme is contemporary. I
would like a stylish portable heater to complement my
scheme. Are there any heaters that you can recommend?
A – One
of the most elegant and versatile additions you can
make to your home is the conservatory. With a modern conservatory
there is little room for bulky or wall-mounted sources
of heat. Therefore one of the most convenient methods
is a Calor portable heater. These small and powerful
heaters come in a range of styles to complement every taste
and décor, and because they are portable, it means that
you can store them easily in the summer, and move them
back into the conservatory in the cooler months. I would
suggest the one for you is the De’Longhi Quattro
Plus, which boasts stylish Italian retro good looks and
would look great in a modern style conservatory. Priced
at only £89.95 (Calor’s SRP) the De’Longhi
Quattro Plus has a maximum heat output of 4.2kW. For more traditional interiors, consider Calor’s
new Provence model priced at £399 (Calor’s
SRP), or the Boston, priced at £299 (Calor’s
SRP). They differ in size and shape but are essentially
cast iron stove-style heaters, the ultimate in country
chic and sophistication. And as they are fuelled by Calor
Gas cylinders (concealed in the base) there is no need
for a flue. Perfect!
Q – How much will a Calor Gas
cylinder cost me?
A – Dependent upon the
model, portable heaters are powered by either a Calor
7kg or 15kg butane cylinder, which is neatly concealed
inside the heater. To purchase a cylinder there is
a one-off payment of £19.99*
or £24.99* including VAT, depending on cylinder
size, which covers the initial cost of the cylinder,
and with gas refills costing £12.75* or £17.99*
- including VAT. Cylinders can be purchased on a pay-as-you-go
basis by calling 0800 662 663 or online at www.calorheatershop.co.uk.
For extra convenience, gas can also be delivered direct
to your home.
* Dependent on the cylinder size

The Provence will not be available until September 2006,
but advance orders can be made by calling 0800 662 663.
